YugaTech Giveaway: A Sony Xperia P

YugaTech Philippines is giving away a Sony Xperia P smartphone!

I just joined the contest hoping to win a new phone. Currently I am using a Sony Xperia mini with a smallish screen. I am a "newly Sony fanboy" (previously a Nokia fanboy, LOL) and I love Sony phones because of the build and quality of their devices. If ever I will win the contest I will give my pre-loved Xperia mini to my sister.

Why do I want to win an Xperia P smartphone? Simply because I'm a gamer and love stylish phones, and the Sony Xperia P is the answer to my needs! With a 4.0 inches big screen, I can enjoy on playing and watching movies in HD on that phone. Aside from that is the Sony Mobile's exceptional technical support to its customers is a bonus!

Wish me luck in this contest! But hey, you can also join th contest and win!

My Banknotes Collection

Mabuhay! This is my first time writing a blog. I love collecting banknotes ever since. This gives me the impression of what's the country's culture and history is. Most of banknotes that I have was given to me by my friends, because I cannot afford to travel around the world. Maybe I can travel around the city's money changer anyway LOL. Although this could be not as grand as those what other banknotes collectors have, just posting it anyway.

Sony Ericsson MS430 Speaker (a review)

This is a portable speaker good for mobile phones, iPod/iPhone, mp3 players, tablets, laptops, etc. Retail price is about $35, I bought mine for Php500 only (about $12), second hand. I thought of buying a brand new music angel for the same price, but I'm not sure if the built in battery of music angel will last long. This one also compliments my Xperia mini because it is made by SE too and also acts as a stand.

Body is made of brushed aluminum and plastic speaker grill and battery compartment. Feels very solid and compact. Weighs only 67 grams without the battery. Quite heavier than my cell phone when including the battery about 101 grams.

In terms of design it is very stylish and ultra portable. No dangling cables, just plug and play. Volume is controlled by the mobile phone.

Speaker grill

Powered by 3-AAA batteries. I used 1000mah Ni-MH Sanyo battery. One full charge is good for about 12-15 hours of playback. I bought Sanyo battery for Php420 (3 pcs.) at Battery Channel in SM Manila.

Battery compartment

I use this for my Xperia mini, iPod shuffle and Nokia 1280.
When using this for FM radio on Nokia 1280, I use a 3.5mm cable extension from Nokia N79 as radio antenna. (see photo)

Listening to radio on Nokia phone using an extension cable.

Sound quality is decent with a little bass, superior compared to built in speakers on mobile phones. Good for personal use or with small group of people. I noticed that when using iPod shuffle, volume is way louder compared when using a mobile phone to Sony ms430 speaker.

One way of enhancing the sound quality is by using a music player (I used PlayerPro / Poweramp) on Android phone with an equalizer.

Turn this MS430 speaker into a wireless Bluetooth speaker using Sony MW600.
Audio is noticeably better than the normal use* of MW600.

Pros: Impressive design
         good sound quality
         easy to replace 3-AAA batteries
plug and play (no dangling cable)
         portable
can be use for most mobile phones, mp3 players, tablets and laptops

Cons: Mono speaker
             No power indicator
listening to FM radio (on mobile phones) is not good, bad reception
